Play therapy toys for child therapy

Child Therapy

I work with children using play=based therapy, believing that children will play what is first and foremost on their minds. The office is filled with projective toys, meaning the toys are selected to allow children to use them to communicate their thoughts and feelings. The toys do not carry their own story; you will not find characters from movies, tv, or even books.

By connecting with children through play, Rachel works on a deep level that feels safe and accessible to them. Rachel uses thoughtful language in play that builds the child’s ability to express themselves verbally and process their feelings.

For children diagnosed with autism, ADHD, or developmental delays I come from a Floortime perspective to develop social skills such as reading social cues and the ability to engage in age-appropriate play. My knowledge of sensory issues is incorporated into the session as needed to help children stay regulated through the process.
